I started my blog in 2019 and grew it to a five-figure business in two years while working full-time. I’d like to share what I’ve learned so far.
From writer to freelancer
This blog was made to teach you that you can make money blogging if you treat it like a real company from the start.
It’s a fact that over 95% of blogs fail. Traditional blogging advice recommends starting with a passion, producing steady content for a few years, and then monetizing it. The difficulty with this plan is that it is missing one key element: monetization. If a blog isn’t treated as a true business from the start, revenue suffers, content is churned out without direction for years, no money is earned, and the writer leaves or claims their site is “just a hobby.”
What causes blogs to fail? It isn’t due to a lack of enthusiasm. This is due to the fact that bloggers are unable to translate writing into money.
They’ve discovered that pursuing a passion and writing about it for years are two very different things.
That’s why, from the beginning, I flipped the script and began treating my blog as a legitimate business. I took everything I learned in my 8 years of experience in digital marketing and applied it to my blog’s systems, treating it as if it were a company. I moved from being a troubled writer to becoming my own boss. I put down my pen and began scaling.
In addition, I increased my blog to 20,000 monthly visitors and monthly revenue of over $5,000.
